Two killed in Elizabeth St. fire


On November 9, 2009 around 9:43 p.m. the Henderson Fire Department received a fire call to 132 S. Elizabeth Street, Henderson in reference to a house fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters found the rear of the residence engulfed in flames.

Attempts were made to reach those that were inside, but were unsuccessful. Fire suppression was conducted and subsequently a one-year old male and a twelve year-old female were found deceased. A sixteen year-old male escaped the fire unharmed.

The Henderson Arson Task Force was activated to assist in the continuing investigation. The State Bureau of Investigation was also contacted to assist in determining the cause of the fire. The Red Cross arrived and assisted the surviving family members.
