  1. I think school should be named after the Teacher who died recently in car wreck. In her memory.

  2. I think it should be named after Maria L. Davis who devoted numerous years to the English as Second Language community. Some of you may know Maria died on October 9, 2006 and the children were still on her mind.

  3. Winston Kerley. Or maybe Kerley-Davis. It worked for EJ right?

  6. Keep it simple. Southern middle school and Southern Elementary. When you name it after someone then someone else will think another person should have been honored or remembered. Like the Henderson loop. Has 2 names because people couldn’t agree on the name.

  7. Melissa, GREAT IDEA !!!

It is so right on. The Elected Officials won’t “get it”–and that would be a real shame.

  8. How about Garrett Road Elementary. It worked for Wake County. That way nobody is upset over who it is named after.

  9. We have enough schools named after roads, and Henderson. We need to name it after one who touch so many lives in the time she lived in Henderson and worked with the children she loved so dearly. That is why I think it should be named Maria L. Davis Elementary School. I sure hope no would ever mind that.

  10. We could have a list a mile long of teachers that worked and loved the kids that they taught..

  11. Let’s get it over with– name it — Sam Watkins Elementary School. It a compromise we can live with. NO performing arts hall, no sewer line to Kittrell. He get s the recognition of a signature building and we get our city back.

  12. I was thinking of the school named after Jerold Murdock but have to say I agree with Melissa: keep it simple.

  13. Mr Murdock taught me at both Rollins and EJ. A wonderful teacher in a testy environment.

  14. I am suprised that the name Von Williams School of Academics has not showed up on someones list. Maybe then she will quit asking for money to run her daycare.
