  1. 683 Vance owned by James E. Scarboro, Sr.

    AND

715 Highland owned by non other than Terry Garrison

Slum Lords at the finest – all of these are under 20 years old and have previous records.

  2. I’m sure these 3 fine gentlemen are products of the Vance County welfare gravy train. Us taxpayers are stuck with paying for them from the cradle to the grave.

  3. And a Vance County real estate agent sees fit to rent to one of them. Why?

  4. What a shame… this definitely reflects off of the parents. The Song, you couldn’t have said it better!

  5. Isn’t Garrison also a County Commissioner?

    Comment by north star — January 26, 2010 @ 9:20 am

  6. Yes Garrison is a county commissioner. He is supposed to represent the interest of the residents living in the city. But he does not. We need a new representative, one that truly understands the need of city residents.

  7. If these were white kids you all would offer help, but since they are not, then they’er scum of the earth just like their parents.Yall need some soul shearching and should be ashamed.

  8. No. 7 – You are entirely wrong. The only thing I despise more than a black thug is a white thug. There appears to be a abundance of both kinds in Vance County. I wish we could load them all up and ship them out far away never to return.

  9. Back in the old days you could give a youngun a good thrashing on the hind quarters to discourage unacceptable behavior. Any adult could and did correct any kid whenever necessary. Respect has gone the way of dinosaurs. We let it happen. Now we pay.

ghetto, you have no idea how you contribute to the problem

  10. Interesting, again, I doubt the property is actually rented in name to these three, all of whom are teenagers.

ghetto, I’d also maintain that you are wrong. I think I understand the reason why black people stick up for their own and would go out of their way to help these guys turn their lives around. But white people don’t have that same compassion; had these boys been white, the general sentiment of white people would be, “look at this white trash, screw them. lock them up and throw away the key”.

White people are very hard on “white trash”, which is what three white armed robbers would be regarded as. Perhaps it’s due to the lack of “white commonality”, or a “the struggle’s all the same” factor existing in the white community.

  11. I know, I know!! Ghetto is part of the problem! Idiot! Why in the Heck does it always have to turn into a racial thing???? I would be commenting if it were 3 white kids! Unfortunately in this case THEY’RE black. So get over yourself! People that think like you; make me SO sick! They needed discipline and guidance! Sorry but I blame it on the parents! Now if these kids read this, they’ll be thinking, “it’s because we’re black” kudos to #7, well kids, NO, ITS BECAUSE THIS IS CALLED A CRIME AND ITS WRONG! Get some soul SEARCHING yourself #7! And try using spellcheck!!

  12. #10 – OF COURSE it is not rented to them, BUT, they live at those addresses.

One address is slum Lord Terry Garrison, real estate agent and COUNTY COMMISSIONER. Do you think he has the best interest of our county at heart by renting to these people? No, he does not. He has his pocket at heart.

It gets worse every day. Day, after day, after day.

And regardless of what you say, it is mostly the black population that is doing the crime. Just check the pictures for the past week or so, and tell me I am wrong. You can defend them all you want – you don’t have any defense. It is the truth – it is not racist, like you like to say.

  13. #10. Your first paragraph I agree with and rightly so. How can teenagers rent? They can’t. The second and third…. Hmmmm. Please explain why you believe white people don’t have compassion. Your post lumps us into one small minded community. Isn’t that stereotyping? Can you honestly say every white person you know is without compassion for any race?

Children learn what they live at home — we grow into adults bringing what we learned with us. Education, and I’m not talking entirely scholastic is, in my opinion, tantamount to what is needed in Henderson and all towns across the country. The old adage, “walk a mile in my shoes” certainly fits here. If we all took the time to put ourselves in another person’s shoes, perhaps we wouldn’t be so quick to judge.

  14. Tbird, please point out in my comment where i said “white people don’t have compassion” never said that, and given what white people have done for the people of Haiti, it’d be a pretty bogus statement.

i said, the “SAME compassion”, that’s a whole different ball game. Black people are often very forgiving of their own. White people not so much; whites hold each other to high standard. that’s all i was saying, if you wish to dispute that, feel free.

  15. It may not make much sense to people who aren’t on the ‘gravy train’ but one thing that highly motivates parents of these young offenders is the disability check they get for their children. You might not know that a whole generation of ‘disabled’ youth live in our midst…uneducated, unsupervised, angry and confused. If their child is arrested, the parent faces loss of income, so they do whatever is necessary to keep their kids on the streets. Sad, but true.

  16. FTWL: if I misread your post, I will be the first to apologize. What I intrepreted by reading it was you lumped all white people into one category — you said, “white people don’t have that same compassion”. I beg to differ with you. I have a lot of compassion for everyone I meet and KNOW that everyone I meet is dealing with something. So please, in future posts, don’t lump everyone together. As I said, “walk a mile in my shoes”. We all have holes in the bottoms…..
