I would love to hear the conversation between big mama, pastor peace, george daye, lonnie”biscuits” davis, and “sleepy” e.wright, “know it all” d. brown, and “tattoo boy” hughes about Joint Funding between the city and county. How funny would that conversation be? Guaranteed to make you laugh!! Why not record it and sell it with the title “city of henderson/county of vance dumbest politicians”?

The first statement would be, “what is Joint Funding?”
Good descriptions of our finest!!!

Casper, can you imagine how much food will be consumed at that retreat? The city will have to take out a loan to pay the bill!!!

They ought to fast during their deliberations, drinking only water. Purifying their bodies might purify their thinking.

Ya think, Warden? Sure would make for a cheaper day!
I’ve heard that Lonnie puts food in his pockets for later snacking!

The county commissioners are under the impression and have stated:
Those in the city have more and can afford it.
Let the county identify those that can afford it, tax them and leave those of us that can’t alone.
I can’t afford it and I object to having to pay 80-84 % of the supposedly joint funding. There is no excuse for the entire city council and 3 of the 7 commissioners that represent the city residents voting to continue the present funding method.

Warden–Good idea–, but they’d all probably be losing brain cells–which they can ill afford to do.

Brenda, Lonnie, George will spend the day stuffing their faces and looking confused. Mary Emma will spend her day uttering the phrase “I don’t understand”
Lawd, Lawd how much more of these people must we endure? And don’t blame me, I didn’t vote for a single one of the nuts.
I agree with you Bobby, but equitable taxation and proper representation are things our commissioners and councilpersons do not practice nor do they have a desire to practice.

Add me to those objecting to the unfair taxation under what is called “joint funding”. I prefer to call it “highway robbery”.

Much better definition, TOMSOIA.

Mike Rainey will say that he is in favor of joint funding and that he is against joint funding. Then he will vote both for and against it. Afterwards he will ask, “What did we just do?” When asked why he voted as he did, he will explain, “We didn’t have all the facts.”

If you live anywhere in the county you pay for joint funding in your county taxes, if you live in the city you pay for joint funding in your city taxes and again in your county taxes. What other facts do you need?

Fasting is known to produce increased lucidity. More blood flows to the brain than to the stomach. Look at a big tummy and you know the entire circulatory system is under a strain…not to mention the back, hips, ankles and knees being super stressed.
Most of the council couldn’t walk a mile in their own shoes, much less anyone elses.

#11 – the reason being is that for so long, Rainey has taken his orders from “another” and doesn’t have a clue what is right and what is wrong. Pitiful.

Bobby Gupton: Have you tried to “present” the unfair taxation to the city council or county commissioners via another language. Maybe Spanish or French? Maybe even Arabic because it’s quite obvious that they can’t understand BASIC ENGLISH and/or BASIC MATH!!!! Is it same to assume that they were educated in the Vance County Schools? Man……..how dumb can one be?
This group reminds me of a line within the Forrest Gump movie when Forrest proclaims that “I’m not a smart man” but I believe with all my heart that even he could figure this simple math problem and how unfair it is to the city of Henderson’s residents. Here’s an idea for the city residents: Put the numbers into a math question and/or math test and distribute it to the county’s 2nd and 3rd grade students as a math lesson. If they can figure it out, then put it on an election ballot and let the citizens of Vance County(for those of you who don’t know, this would include Henderson’s city residents) so that this ignorant “unfair taxation” can be fixed FAIRLY once and for all. I am beginning to think that since the ex-mayor young evidently came up with the idea, that his “cult following” may be considering renaming Henderson, NC to Youngstown,NC! As Mr. Lewis Edwards likes to say and I will add a twist to his famous line: “IT’S TIME TO STOP ACCEPTING AND START TAKING BACK WHAT HAS BEEN STOLEN FOR WAY TOO MANY YEARS!!!”
