HPD makes arrest for heroin
Anthony “Bookie” Harris, arrested by the HPD for alleged heroin possession and manufacture
Henderson Police Chief K.L. Sidwell reported that members of the Henderson Police Department’s Narcotics Unit performed a vehicle stop on Raleigh Road.
During the investigation, the driver was detained and a consent search was performed. The consent search of the driver and vehicle resulted in the seizure of a quantity of heroin.
The individual listed below has an extensive criminal history, including convictions for three counts of trafficking in cocaine, possession of a firearm by felon, maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance, receiving or possession of a firearm, and robbery with a dangerous weapon.
The suspect below was charged and placed in the Vance County Jail. The investigation is continuing and more arrests are pending.

No, Abraham and Martin would be chagrined that the opportunities they died for have not been used to best advantage. Freedom requires responsibility. One doesn’t have to be an elected official, teacher or law enforcement person to ‘make a difference’. I venture to say that if Abraham and Martin were contemporaries, they would lift each other rather than bash each other.
I see our nation’s major problem not in political terms but in human relationship terms. When we are busy criticizing each other we cannot see our commonality and go forward with consensus. A divided house will not stand. We need to learn how to negotiate and compromise so that everyone benefits. As long as the general population is afraid to stand up to the status quo, our freedom is lost.
I know the ones who comment on HiH represent a very small portion of the population. However, hundreds (if not thousands) of people read these posts. The prevailing message being sent out is disgruntled and pessimistic. We all need to think from today forward, not belabor the past and expect improvement. Learn from mistakes, let them go, then get on with making a better today and tomorrow.

I’d like to add that there is a need for old suspenders at the ACTS house. If any of you have a pair to spare, please drop them by the ACTS house M-F between 9 and 11:30. Old ties will also work. I’m still on my anti-slacking soap box.

I agree 100% Copper, it’s good to tell the truth but we need to be careful not to bite our nose to spite our face. Recently I was talking to a new teacher who almost didn’t accept a position in Vance Co. because of all the negativity on this blog. Was scare to even come here to see the community. When she came and met people she was pleasantly surprise how nice people and the town was.

Really, do have to ask. Are their any police reports that get to HIH about white people being arrested? Any reports of white people that don’t have their pictures published? It may not be at all the fault of the person who runs this bog, whom I think tries hard, but given the bunch of nasty looking people who get their photos here and no photos of whites — and Iknow white people get arrested in Henderson — this looks bad.

Henderson is 65 percent black and climbing. Probably 80 percent of the crimes are committed by blacks. Thus, the vast majority of the photos of recently arrested criminals will obviously be black faces.

s long as they are the only people who have been arrested, and there are not people who are not black who have also been arrested, no problem.
If the police report shows that there are arrests of other people who are not black, problem.

I haven’t checked in to HIH in quite some time. We use it to bicker with each other too much! It’s okay to disagree, but do we have to be so nasty about it? It’s okay for others to have an opinion that’s different from ours, but do we have to be so ugly to those who do? We miss the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue. The whole point of a debate is lost.
